NBA Reveals Exciting Lineup of HBCU Celebrations, Entertainment, and Career Development Initiatives for the 2025 NBA HBCU Classic

NEW YORK – The 2025 NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T will feature a lineup of celebrations, entertainment and career development opportunities for the HBCU community, the NBA announced today.  The weekend of activities during NBA All-Star 2025 continues the league’s commitment to celebrating the rich traditions and culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and providing career development opportunities for HBCU students.  For the fourth consecutive year, AT&T will serve as the presenting sponsor of the HBCU Classic, with Foot Locker and Google serving as associate sponsors.  The game will feature musical performances of the Star-Spangled Banner by PJ Morton and Lift Every Voice by Goapele.

NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T participants Morehouse College and Tuskegee University from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) each will receive $100,000 from the NBA and AT&T.  Additionally, the NBA, AT&T and associate sponsors will highlight HBCUs throughout NBA All-Star 2025 through activations, career development opportunities and entertainment.

“The NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T has become a highlight of the league calendar as we continue to use our platform to celebrate HBCU culture and traditions,” said NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum.  “We’re excited to showcase a conference matchup between two historic programs in Morehouse College and Tuskegee University, while also providing career development opportunities that elevate the experience for HBCU students throughout the weekend.”

The 2025 NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T will begin at 2:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Oakland Arena.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, NBA TV and TruTV.  On-air talent includes Brian Custer, Grant Hill and Taylor Rooks.

Taking place during NBA All-Star 2025 will be opportunities for the student athletes from both schools and a broader range of HBCU students focused on professional development.  HBCU student activities, partner activations and celebrations include:

HBCU Classic “Welcome to the Bay” Event

The NBA and Foot Locker will host a welcome event for the Morehouse College and Tuskegee University men’s basketball teams, bands, cheer teams, alumni and parents to celebrate their school’s participation in NBA All-Star 2025 and take part in a shopping experience.  Foot Locker will provide gifts and host a meet and greet for the students with NBA legend Mitch Richmond.  This event is open to the public and will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. PT at Foot Locker in San Francisco (150 Powell St San Francisco, CA 94102).

NBA HBCU Classic Teams Participating in NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service

The Morehouse College and Tuskegee University men’s basketball, band and cheer teams will participate in the 17th annual NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service volunteering in community service projects throughout San Francisco.

2025 Castrol Rising Stars: Player Development Workshop

Players participating in the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars Game will create and mix musical beats with EngineEars founder Derek Ali (MixedByAli) as part of unfnshd co-lab – a creative workshop hosted by the NBA’s Player Development department.  The top beat selected by the Rising Stars, HBCU band members and others will be amplified during the NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T.

NBA HBCU Classic presented by AT&T – HBCU Career Development Session

The NBA, in partnership with AT&T, Foot Locker Google, RISE, Pensole Lewis College, UNCF and TMCF, will host a career development session for students from Morehouse College, Tuskegee University, the NBA All-Star HBCU Event Intern Program, AT&T Rising Future Makers and all HBCU students present during NBA All-Star.  The theme is “Next Gen Trailblazers: Sport, Tech & Culture Innovators.”  The day will start with a career panel followed by customized breakout tracks led by NBA staff and partners.  Guests will include NBA players, NBA legends, NBA staff and corporate partners from various departments.
