Horford proudly carried the NBA Finals trophy off the plane, accompanied by his wife and children, to commence a heartwarming homecoming celebration.

“I left here 24 years ago,” Horford said. “It’s crazy … and to be able to come back here with the trophy in hand is something that’s special to me and to my family.”

Born in Puerto Plata, Horford became the first Dominican player to win an NBA championship last season after helping the Celtics defeat the Dallas Mavericks in five games.

Horford started all five Finals games in his 17th season, averaging 7.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals as Boston won its first title since 2007-08.
