New Delhi: The upcoming Champions Trophy is set to take place in Pakistan next year. The ICC typically reveals the schedule three months prior to the tournament. Sources suggest that the schedule for the Champions Trophy will be unveiled between 10 and 12 November. Ahead of the official announcement, the Pakistani media has reported a significant development. It is being said that the Pakistan Cricket Board has requested a written response from the Indian Cricket Board regarding Team India's participation in the tournament in Pakistan.

According to Cricket Pakistan, the PCB wants India to answer in writing whether it is yes or no. PCB COO Salman Naseer is in Dubai and is talking to ICC officials. Before Naseer, the PCB chairman had talked to ICC officials before the schedule was finalized.

PCB wants a written reply:

Pakistan has got the hosting rights of an ICC tournament after a long time. However, India’s participation in this tournament is not yet decided. The Indian government has never given any official letter to send a team to Pakistan before and according to reports, they will not do so this time too.

ICC will release the schedule:

PCB says that BCCI should take permission from the Indian government and reply in writing. If this does not happen then in the schedule released by ICC, India will have only 5 matches in Pakistan. If India refuses to participate then ICC has prepared a backup plan. It will revise the budget but no further information has been given about this.

Jay Shah has not taken a decision yet:

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had given a statement regarding the Champions Trophy some time ago. He said, “No stand has been taken at the moment. But when the decision is taken, it will be decided.” The Indian team has not gone to Pakistan since 2008. The Indian team did not go to Pakistan even for the Asia Cup. It played all its matches in Sri Lanka. The last time the Asia Cup was organized was under the hybrid model.
