Samit Dravid reflects on his hard work after earning his maiden India U-19 call-up against Australia U-19

New Delhi: India's promising cricketer and son of former head coach Rahul Dravid, Samit Dravid, expressed his excitement upon receiving his first call-up to the India Under 19 team. The talented youngster has been selected for the upcoming multi-format home series against Australia under 19, starting on 21st September.

The two teams will be facing off in three One Day games and two four-day matches in Puducherry and Chennai. Commenting on his selection, the 18-year-old said he was thankful to be a part of the team and thanked his fans for the wishes.

“First of all, I am very happy to be selected and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great, I worked very hard for this moment,” said Samit.

Samit has currently been playing in the Maharaja T20 Trophy for Mysuru Warriors. However, the right-hander hasn’t had a quite good time in the league scoring just 82 runs from seven innings with a strike rate of 113.88 and an average of 11.71. His highest score of the tournament came against Gulbarga Mystics where he scored 33 runs in 24 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

In the earlier times, Samit was the fourth highest run scorer for Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2023-24 with 362 runs from ten at an average of 36.20 with three half-centuries to his name and a highest score of 98. The right-arm seamer also picked 16 wickets from 15 innings at an average of 19.31.
