Liverpool Legend Mohamed Salah Suggests Possible Departure, Announces 'This Will Be My Final Year at the Club'

Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah has raised speculation about his future at the club following his goal in the 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday (Sep 1). Salah, who is in the last year of his contract with Liverpool, hinted at a potential exit after scoring at Old Trafford for the seventh consecutive season. The 32-year-old stated, "It is my last year in the club," suggesting that he could depart on a free transfer at the conclusion of the current season.

"As you know, it is my last year in the club," in reference to the fact that his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season. He later attempted to clarify the situation,” Salah said while speaking to after the win.

"Coming into the game, I said it could be the last time. No one at the club has spoken to me about contracts, so I'm just like, okay, I am playing my last season and see what happens at the end of the season.

"It is not up to me, but nobody has talked to me from the club. We will see."

A legend of the game for Liverpool, the Egyptian was instrumental in Liverpool’s success against Manchester United on Sunday having played a key role. He scored in the second half to drop curtains for United with Luis Diaz scoring a brace in the opening half. Salah’s goal was also his 10th at the iconic Old Trafford Stadium cementing his legacy as one of the best visiting players in history.

The win also meant Liverpool continued their winning run to the season having won all three matches so far under new head coach Arne Slot. The Dutchman has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success in the early parts while the same can’t be said for Erik ten Hag. With two defeats in two, pressure is mounting on the Dutchman who survived the sack at the end of last season having won the FA Cup.
